The main screen shows an outstanding member of your race and your race symbol. From this point you can read incoming messages, write messages to other races and view the score list. If any of your ships were engaged in a battle last turn you may view the battle as it was recorded on the Visual Combat Recorder.
The starship command button will be active if you own any starships. If you click the starship command button you will bring up the starship control window, which allows you to navigate ships from planet to planet. Your ships can drop off cargo , spy on other ships, tow other ships, intercept enemy ships or attack enemy ships and planets.
The planetary command button will be active if you own any planets. If you press the planetary command button you will being up the planet control window, which allows you to scan passing ships, take a planetary mining survey, change tax rates, build mineral mines, build factories, build defense outposts or even build a starbase.
The starbase command button will be active if you own any starbases. If you press starbase command button you will bring up the starbase control window, where you can order the building and repair of starships. You can build fighters fighters to defend the starbase and torpedoes that can be loaded onto starships starships equipped with torpedo launchers. From here you can spend money to improve your tech levels in the area of engine, hull , and weapon weapon construction.
The messages you will receive will be from other race, your planets and your ships if they have anything important to say to you.
The score list will show you who is doing the best. Over all score is based on the number of planets controlled by each race also the number of capital ships (ships with weapons), starbases and freighters.
You will be told if you have any VCR files to view. If you have one or more VCR files you may click the VCR button to view the outcome of the battle, or to run a simulation of a battle. By viewing the VCR files you will discover what type of weapon systems work well against your enemies. You will also be able to view your glorious victories as well as the fate of doomed ships.
